NORTHERN AREAS OF PAKISTAN....BEST PLACE FOR SUMMER VACATIONS

In general the northern areas of Pakistan covers the district of Gilgit, Diamer,Ghizer, Ghanchu and Skardu.

Nature has endowed the area with high peaks and large glaciers concentrated in a relatively small radius. Each district can boast of at least one lofty peak. K-2 with a height of 8,611 m (28, 416 ft) lies majestically in Skardu district overlooking the Chinese territory. Nanga Parbat, 8, 138 m (26,855 ft) high, is located in Diamer whereas the 7,788 m (25,700 ft) high Rakaposhi is situated in Gilgit. Some 28 peaks of the area are over 20,000 ft high.
Whereas Diamer does not have any glacier worth mentioning, Gilgit, Skardu and Ghanche offer some formidable glaciers like Biafo, Baltoro and Siachin which is 72 km long and the largest in the world outside the poles.
Geopolitically it is the most sensitive area of Pakistan. It touches Sinkiang in the north and Afghanistan in the northwest with Tajikistan close behind. On the southern side there is a stretch of over 300 miles long ceasefire line with Indian-held Kashmir and Ladakh. With the opening of the Karakoram Highway, the Northern Areas have acquired additional strategic and political importance.

The area is spread over 72,496 sq. km., approximately the size of the NWFP, with a present population of nearly 800,000 and a low density of 8 persons per sq. km., living in some 650 small villages.
There are eight ethnic groups, viz; Baltis, Yashkuns, Moghal, Kashmiries, Pathans, Laddakis and Turks speaking eight different languages namely Shina, Balti, Brushiski, Khawar, Wakhi, Urdu, Pushto, and Farsi.
The four major religious sects are Sunnies, Shias, Ismailies and Noorbukshies. Sunnies are mostly in Daimer and Gilgit districts. The majority of Shias are in Skardu and Ghanche districts. The Ismalies are mostly in Ghizer district and in Hunza sub-division of Gilgit district.

Experts say people should be on their guard because arthritis is on the rise, with 60% of cases in feet.
Professor Redmond said: "If you do experience frequent pain in your feet or ankles, don't ignore it, as something can always be done.

Bill Gates is turning his attention to Africa's small farmers!!!!

Along with spending billions of dollars on better healthcare for the world's poor, Microsoft founder Bill Gates is increasingly turning his attention to Africa's struggling small farmers.
In an interview with the BBC World Service, the world's most influential philanthropist explained why farming was now his foundation's second-biggest programme.
"We're very excited about what can happen when you help farmers be more productive," he said.
"Not only to grow enough to feed themselves and their kids, to improve nutrition so those kids can develop their full potential, but also to give them cash income so they can send those kids to school and the price of food can come down, for the urban poor included."

WHERE THE MYSTERY LIES? Wake up Pakistan!!!

Army is suppose to safe the country and their people ,here army itself plotting consipiracy and killing people ... who is the responsible... as today in Karachi, 22 years young boy has been shot dead by an army person . He was arrested of stealing some thing on which he was explaining to the army people that he was helpless. Army people did not give an ear to his explanation . Instead of arresting that boy they have made the decision on behalf of court and killed that young boy at the spot.
Few days back, Karachi Mehran base was attacked by some terrorist in which there was an eye witness who exposed himself to the media and has mentioned the name, number, location, of the people who were involved in this conspiracy. These two stories arises many questions like, Are armed forces on which people are spending their 80% budget are really plotting conspiracies against their own home land ??OR some external forces are weakening the solidarity of Pakistan  ???
